he is an Amazon, a warrior, a fighter. Moving through mountain terrain and forests, she travels between battles, fighting unjust killing. Killing unjustly. Running from ghosts and her past, the sound of war, the sound of screaming. She carries shame, she carries pain like jewellery. Let no one rule over me, she wishes. Besides her horse and her dog, she is alone. In the end, she shall give away everything of which she has more than one, and then turn around. This is about the hardness of the heart and the softness of the breast. The greyness of the mind.

introduction.
Apr. 23rd, 2029 05:35 pmOmina is a poetry collection by Danish poets, Naja Marie Aidt & Mette Moestrup, from 2016.
Through a series of mirrored poems, we follow the journey of the main dramatis personae, the Amazon, addressed either in the second person or described in the third person singular as she leaves behind the ghosts of her past to travel between battlefields, through forests and across mountains. Her only companions on this journey are her horse and her dog, otherwise she's alone, having said goodbye to her love under unknown circumstances. What she fights against is injustice and the power structures of society, though she fights by also killing innocents in cold blood. In the end, she has lost a companion, her dog, because she realizes she must give up everything of which she has more than one. Only then is she ready to turn around, to venture back to the losses she has been fleeing from.
The title of the book comes from Latin, it's the plural form of omen which means warning.
this will be about
doubt and this will
be a hammer
of burning steel
this will be about
the hardness of the heart
and this will be soft
as a severed breast

a downpour of petals
a downpour of falling stars
is there a constellation of stars
called the foal
you are breathing
everything of which you have more than 1
you shall part from
and then you must turn around

( canon ) omina, poetry collection by Naja Marie Aidt & Mette Moestrup
( background ) Here & here
( canon point ) Flexible
( notes ) omina takes place in some unspecified "ancient" setting akin to Ancient Greece or Rome and will mesh well with fantasy characters from similarly "primitive" settings. I could see her click with the Tolkien universe, the Witcher or Greek myth, to mention a few. In very special cases, I can also modernize her with the assumption that she is some recluse zealot of a feminist who rages against the hierachies, structures and power inequalities of the world.
PLAYER
( contact ) PM to this journal;
( active times/pace ) CEST/CET player. Tries to be online at least during the evening my time, but it varies. More one tag a day player than anything, but if you hit me up at the right time, I can still boomerang a bit.
( brackets/prose ) Definitely brackets preference. I default to present tense, but can also match other tenses.
( offensive subjects/triggers ) Not any.
IN CHARACTER
( physical affection ) Go for it. Reactions are generally unfavorable.
( physical violence ) Go for it, she will fight back.
( relationships ) I love gen, but if shipping becomes a thing, I have a F/F pref for her. Not ruling out M/F, but the chemistry would have to be very special.
( psychic info ) Ask.
( magical info ) Ordinary human, does follow some witch-like practices, but seemingly without the magical aspect of it, more healing and natural medicine and such.
( medical info ) As part of her spiritual journey, the Amazon cut off her right breast as sacrifice and now only has her left breast, with a big, badly-healed scar where her rigth breast was.
( offensive subjects/triggers ) Although it is not something that will come up naturally in either dialogue or narration, the severed breast warrants a warning for self-mutilation. War and PTSD-like symptoms from fighting are also themes with her. Loss and grief as well. If any of this is a trigger for you, let me know and I will avoid tagging you, no questions asked.
OUT OF CHARACTER
( backtagging ) Yes, please!
( threadhopping ) No.
( fourthwalling ) No.
( not interested in ) Smut, shipping as a rule, unless top-leveled in shippy-themed memes.
